I started The Master's Mix in 1995...

  • as an outlet for my creativity
  • a way to learn more about audio engineering in a very practical sense
  • to support artists and performers I knew who needed concert quality sound for live performances.

I think it's easy to find horror stories about the "Sound Man From Hell" and I knew I could make a difference for clients in the way I would treat them.

I also knew from personal experience how difficult it is for churches, organizations and individuals to find someone who would act as an advisor instead of attempting to sell the currently hot product. It's difficult (at best) to find someone with practical experience who can advise you about not only what works, but can attempt to find more than one practical solution to a problem. I was able to find someone who could play that role for me when I was leading a church sound team. I know many others who've not been so blessed.

My goals then have remained unchanged:

  1. Provide concert quality audio at a competitive price
  2. Provide consultation, training, problem-solving and troubleshooting on a fee-for-service basis

Since then, I've been fortunate to work with some fantastic people and been given opportunities to branch out. I've been able to add "provide high quality recording services in a pressure-free environment" to my goals.

When I "hung my shingle out" I felt I needed a company name that would capture what I think embodies the kind of service I provide. I decided on "The Master's Mix" because I believe strongly that it is my Master, Jesus Christ, who guides me in this endeavor as He does in all my endeavors. He's the one that provides the mix of my abilities and services, clients and His purpose. I just have to prayerfully and faithfully follow His lead.

Please note that I'm not affiliated in any way with the organization whose domain is mastersmix.com. They've got a pretty nice web site, but that's all I know about them.
